Japan has a lot of topography for one island, as well as geological features. According to www.livescience.com, Japan’s topography consists of twenty five mountains over three thousand meters, and it has two hundred and sixty five volcanoes (including the famous Mount Fuji). There are some plains as well, and they cover about twenty nine percent of the land on Japan. Two geological features in Japan are Mount Fuji, which is a stratovolcano that is still active and erupts. A stratovolcano is a volcano that looks like an average mountain, cone-shaped and deadly. According to www.livescience.com, Mount Fuji was formed by magma that got itself up to the surface, and then kept building up to form itself. Another geological feature is the Shinano River, which is two hundred and twenty eight miles long and is the longest lake in Japan. Shinano River was formed by a glacier that had carved through Japan when the world was all together. Japan’s topography is truly amazing and beautiful, as much as it has.
